How does it work?

The thermostat platform was designed around two core variants — wired and wireless — with scalable 2-channel and 4-channel configurations to support expandable heating and hot water control, all managed through a cloud-connected mobile app.

A flexible, platform-based mechanical architecture enabling seamless adaptation between wired and wireless product variants…

Pushing Boundaries…

I challenged the aesthetic limitations of low-cost segment LCDs by developing a custom 11-segment numerical digit architecture. By engineering tighter element tolerances, I achieved a sophisticated user interface at a fraction of the cost of standard LCD modules delivering a premium, high-resolution aesthetic comparable to full-color displays while maintaining a highly competitive price point."

Next-Gen Hardware Strategy

"Advancing the product meant doing more with less. I integrated motion detection and touch-capacitive controls while redesigning the internal assembly for maximum DFM efficiency. This dual approach allowed us to launch a premium-tier product while actually improving manufacturing margins."

"To address user demand for a more discrete design, I re-engineered the internal architecture to achieve an ultra-compact silhouette. This minimized wall projection by 55% and delivered a streamlined aesthetic, all while maintaining 100% thermal accuracy and installation simplicity."

Streamlining Product Range through Design Innovation

“Platform Consolidation: I engineered a single, configurable PCB that replaced four different hardware variants. In addition to this I simplified the product design and reduced the total part count from 57 to just 15. A reduction of about 75%.”

“Screwless Assembly: I eliminated all threaded fasteners in favour of an innovative snap-fit assembly process.”

“Assembly Time: Reduced from 10 minutes to 1min for the thermostat, and from 8 minutes to 30 seconds for the receiver. A reduction of about 92%.”

"Streamlined Packaging Design - Balancing Protection & Sustainability"

Packaging Re-Engineered: 6 Parts Down to 2

I overhauled an existing multi-part packaging system, consolidating six components into a streamlined 2-piece design. This universal, configurable solution covers the entire product line, slashing assembly time and driving down manufacturing costs through intelligent structural design.

The Result

Manufacturing Cost:

↓ 35% reduction through DFM optimisation.

Gross Margin:

↑ Increased from 61% to 75%.

Outcome:

Premium feature set delivered with superior profitability.
